Arthur Lyman - Yellow Bird (1960)

It's a beautiful, lazy Sunday in Dallas, Texas, and this is the perfect album to go with it! So easy to listen to, to read by, to just sit on the porch sipping a cool one... ahhh! Arthur Lyman is truly one of the kings of exotica. If you're a long-time fan/collector of exotica, then you probably already have this one, but if you're just starting your collection, then you definitely need this one. Enjoy! (BTW, if you think some titles are misspelled, I just typed them the way they are listed on the back cover.)

Track listing for Arthur Lyman - Yellow Bird:

Side 1:
1. Havah Nagilah
2. Yellow Bird
3. Ravel's Bolero
4. Autumn Leaves
5. Arrive Derci Roma
6. Sweet and Lovely

Side 2:
1. Bamboo Tamboo
2. Andalusia
3. Adventures in Paradise
4. Granada
5. September Song
6. John Henry

"Arrive Derci" lol.

Love it, thanks.

Also, interesting that a Sparton LP wound up all the way down in Texas--that was a Canadian distributer, if I'm not mistaken.

Hi, Devlin!

Yeah, "Arrive Derci Roma" is the reason I said I just typed it the way it's listed on the back cover! I got this at Half-Price Books a while back - probably came from someone who moved to Texas from Canada!

Will check out your blog here soon! Will also add a link to it in the next couple of days.

Thanks for visiting!

The song "Yellow Bird" was a national top 40 hit in 1961. Went all the way to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Needless to say it was a big hit here in Hawaii. The album was very popular. My parents bought this when it came out back in the day. About 12 years ago I found this on CD. It's the perfect album for any lazy day in Hawaii too.
