Peggy Lipton - Peggy Lipton (1968)

This was one of the records that I had been searching for for quite some time, and I finally got it on eBay a couple of weeks ago! Woo hoo! Okay, so Peggy Lipton isn't the greatest singer, but who cares??? She was HOT as "Julie Barnes" on the television series "The Mod Squad", which aired from 1968 to 1973 (I remember I had a crush on her when I was a little girl and watched the show), was still hot when she starred as "Norma Jennings" on the TV series "Twin Peaks", and is still hot today!
Peggy married Quincy Jones shortly after the end of "The Mod Squad", and gave up acting to be a wife and mother. One of her daughters, Rashida Jones (who looks a LOT like her!) is now starring in "The Office". Peggy has also penned her memoir "Breathing Out". Oh, she wrote a couple of the songs on this album, too - not bad for a 20-year-old at the time!
So, this post is for any Peggy Lipton fans out there! Enjoy the songs, and enjoy looking at her picture - sigh. (Peggy - if you ever come across this blog - you are still HOT!)

WOW!!! This is an album I never expected to hear again! I remember this one from when I was in elementary school... played it all the way through high school, and it was lost somewhere during my college years. Thanks for making this available again -- especially non-degradable mp3.

Great post! BTW, Carole King plays piano on almost every track on this!

Hey, Dartman!

Yeah, I noticed that she wrote most of the songs on this album, too. This is definitely one of my most groovy albums!

I was about 7 or 8 when the Mod Squad went off, but i remember my sister watching it and she loved the show and it's stars, so it wasn't long before i came to love it in syndication..my fav was Peggy.
I got this lp from ebay years ago, but realized i had no working turntable, so now finally thanks to you i can hear it..and it is pretty cool for when it was done, and yes Peggy still looks awesome!
Thanks for all your totally COOL LP postings..you really are pretty awesome yourself to do this for all of us fans of old vinyl, that just seems to be forgotten by the masses!
Thanks!
:)

thanks so much for posting this! i looked everywhere for it after reading about the album in a crazy, old 70's music bio of carole king that i got from the library! this album is fantastic, just ordered a copy for myself. incidentally, peggy recorded two other tracks as b-sides for ode records, another laura nyro song and a donovan cover. i'll be happy to share them with you when i get them. also, i can share the clean track with you that has a skip. you rock, thanks so much!

What a fabulous record. All of the elements of great 60's pop are in the mix. Bacharach, Percy Faith, Carol King, but most of all Laura Nyro. Hmmmmm, I wonder if Laura was involved (Silent Partner?)anywhere in this too. Thanks for this, and all of the other grrrrrreat stuff. Peace! Chris M.
