Bert Kaempfert and His Orchestra - That Happy Feeling (1962)

Here's a totally fun album! You can't go wrong with Bert Kaempfert. "That Happy Feeling" gives me just that - a happy feeling! All the songs are upbeat and put a smile on my face. Just the album cover alone makes me feel happy! (This cover makes up for the creepy Burl Ives one in my last post.) This is great dance music, too. Several years ago when I was ballroom dancing, they would always play songs by Bert Kaempfert at the dance parties, and the dance floor would be packed. From the liner notes:
If there's a better way to find "That Happy Feeling" than through the medium of music, it's yet to be found.
...
Here is Bert Kaempfert and His Orchestra...with an orchestral sound and style that is characteristically ideal for either listening or dancing, and the greatest prescription for "That Happy Feeling" ever discovered.

What makes these classic Kaempfert tracks stay with you is the tight rhythm section. In particular, Ladi Geisler - whose background is jazz but has also lent his talents to surf rock (surf is big in Berlin!) - is a monster on bass. Listen to that tone he gets... every note rings with absolute clean clarity.

Hi, Vince and litlgrey!
Glad y'all liked this album!

Vince - I saw Gene Rayburn in "La Cage..." also when they came to Dallas years ago - it was fabulous!

litlgrey - you are SO right about the tight rhythm section on this album!

Thanks for visiting!

Hi, Vince!

I really don't remember much about "La Cage" - it was years ago. I just remember that Gene Rayburn was in it, and that I especially loved the opening number.
Yes, I am also a "Forbidden Planet" fan - LOVE Anne Francis!

This is one of my very favorite albums. I was going to rip it and upload it myself, but I wanted to check first to see if anyone else already had, and I see you have. I just discovered your blog recently and I love it--I'm sure I'll be back regularly.

...I'm pretty sure that since you have moderation on, you'll see this comment even though the post is so old. I hope so!
