Something NEW Compilation

Greetings and HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! I hope y'all had a restful and joyful holiday season. Now it's on to a NEW YEAR - 2009. Did y'all make any New Year's resolutions? I gave up on that years ago. But, I am starting something new this year and that is that I'm going back to school this semester (while working full-time) to pursue yet another degree. Well, I wish you all the best for 2009... and I wish you lots of groovy music!

To start off the new year, I thought I'd put together a compilation of songs with the word "new" in them. Turns out that I didn't have as many (in digital format) as I thought, but there were just enough to put this together. (I know I have more that this, but there are only so many hours in the day to which I can dedicate to digitizing my record collection!) There's quite a variety - some you've heard and some you probably haven't - and my favorites are the ones by the Partridge Family (mainly because I'm still in love with David Cassidy). I hope you enjoy these as much as I had putting this together. And, again - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Good to see your post invoking Arlo Guthrie's version of Steve Goodman's "City of New Orleans." Goodman often doesn't get his due. You might be interested in my 800-page biography, "Steve Goodman: Facing the Music." The book delves deeply into the genesis of "City of New Orleans," and Arlo Guthrie is a key source among my 1,050 interviewees and even contributed the foreword.

You can find out more at my Internet site (below). Amazingly, the book's first printing sold out in just eight months, all 5,000 copies, and a second printing of 5,000 is available now. The second printing includes hundreds of little updates and additions, including 30 more photos for a total of 575. It won a 2008 IPPY (Independent Publishers Association) silver medal for biography: http://www.independentpublisher.com/article.php?page=1231. To order a second-printing copy, see the "online store" page of my site. Just trying to spread word about the book. Feel free to do the same!

Where did you get the original image of the big-eyed girls? I've love to have a hi-res of that.

Hi, Armpit Studios!

Glad you're enjoying going through my posts! I found the image of the big-eyed girls on eBay. I went through a period where I wanted to buy all those pictures and just did a search on "big eyed", found it, and saved the image to my computer. I never did end up buying any of them though - always got out-bid.

Thanks for visiting!
Esther

I spent a couple evenings looking through tons of collections for a picture that was in my sister's room when she was young. Big eyed girls, wearing lots of blues, greens, and aquas.

Thanks for your blog. Yer a groovy chick.
