George Shearing - White Satin (1960)

Happy Easter!

Since white is the color for Easter, today's post is the "White Satin" album by the George Shearing Quintet and Orchestra. For those of you who downloaded "Black Satin", now you can download the companion album! This one is my favorite of the two, both music-wise and cover photo-wise! I mean, like WOW! I don't think I need to say much more about our cover girl on this album! Enjoy!

Track listing for George Shearing Quintet and Orchestra - White Satin:

Side 1:
1. Your Name is Love
2. Dream
3. Laura
4. There's a Small Hotel
5. Old Folks
6. Blue Malibu

Side 2:
1. How Long Has This Been Going On
2. Love's Melody
3. An Affair to Remember
4. There'll Be Another Spring
5. Moonlight Becomes You
6. I'll Take Romance

I believe there's a scene in "A HARD DAYS NIGHT" where Paul McCartney is shown looking at this LP. COOL!

Hi, Craig!

I'll have to pay attention next time I watch the movie! Good catch!

Thanks for visiting!

Hi Esther,

I've been trying for three days to download this, but previously mega advised "file not available". But I'm aware of this problem - it's happened to me a few times - so I kept trying and now at last it's downloading.

Thanks so much for sharing it!

All the best.

Actually it was his "clean" grandfather looking at the album in the hotel scene right before the song i wanna be your man.

I have four Shearing albums on vinyl..."Black Satin," "White Satin," "Satin Brass" and "Burnished Brass." I love the image of the woman on "Satin Brass." So innocent and playful.

Although, like you, "White Satin" is my favorite record of the bunch.

Great uploads of vinyl that sits in my basement and is never played.

Any chance you could re-up this one?
Thank you for all of the wonderful music.

Never mind. I found a copy at a used shop and made my own copy. I love it! Thanks anyway...

Actually, in the movie "A Hard Day's Night", it is the actor Wilfrid Brimly (the clean old man, Paul's grandfather) who holds the cover.
